Creating a Culture of Community Care from the Inside Out

In this workshop, participants will be introduced to healing-centered principles and practices that will help them create a transformative classroom community.  We'll begin by looking at healing from a trauma sensitive lens and then widen the scope through the principles of Healing Centered Engagement, Dr. Shawn Ginwright's nonclinical strength-based approach that addresses collective trauma and marginalization by transforming individual practices and interpersonal relationships and improves institutional culture to create healthy outcomes for youth, their communities, and the adults who serve them. Arts-based applications will be explored as well as self-care practices that set the practitioner up for success and prevent burnout.
